Estrella “Starr” Hernandez will graduate with the Class of 2026. She is the daughter of Jose Angel & Gloria Hernandez and the sister of Miguel, Lucero, Luis, Adolfo, and Jesus Hernandez. Her favorite activity to do with family is going on family vacation trips to Mexico to be able to see her aunt and grandpa. One of her favorite childhood memories is when they would go to La Isla del Padre every summer with her distant family.

At Carlisle High School, Starr has participated in Volleyball for 4 years, Soccer for 4 years, Softball for 4 years, Cheer for 5 years, Band for 6 years, Student Council for 5 years, Quiz Bowl for 2 years, and National Honor Society for 3 years. She has earned numerous awards, such as Honorable Mentions and Academic All-District, for all the sports she participated in. She was also named UCA All-American, TGCA All-State, TGCA Academic All-State, chosen as an FCA All-Star Cheerleader, UIL Spirit State Finalist in 2023, and captain of the 2025-2026 Varsity Cheer Squad. Throughout her years in StuCo, she was named to an officer position almost every year. She was a part of the 5x State Champion & 1x Silver Medalist band. She was also Class President twice, and held the titles of Class Vice President, Class Secretary, and Class Treasurer.

The activity she enjoys the most is playing sports while making fun memories with her friends because she knows there’ll be a day when she looks back wishing she could play once more. One of her favorite High School memories is when Friday Night Lights reached flow state because seeing the band hype, and looking back at the scoreboard to see our team winning the football game, while cheering, and it being warm out will always be peak. It’s the true American Dream. Her favorite class was Mrs. Liles' English class because even though she got easily annoyed with everyone, she never failed to let them know how much she would miss them once they graduated, and she continued to be encouraging to everyone. Starr's biggest pet peeve is when people use incorrect grammar in texts, like mixing up "your" & "you’re."

Outside of school, Starr likes to binge-watch TV shows, sleep, listen to music, and hang out with her friends & family. If she had one wish, it would be to go back in time, where she could see two of her best friends, Laners and Bianca, who are now angels in Heaven. Three words that best describe her would be: determined, energetic, & spontaneous. After High School, she plans to attend the University of Texas at Tyler to major in Early Childhood Education and eventually become an elementary teacher. In 10 years, she sees herself as a kind but driven teacher who impacts the lives of many children, is married, and travels the world. 3 things on her bucket list are to travel to Greece, be fluent in American Sign Language, and learn how to play the guitar.

The people she admires most are her mom and her older sister because, regardless of anything they’ve gone through, they’ve taught Starr to always believe that God has a bigger plan for her and to rely on Him when times get hard. They’re two of the strongest people she’s ever met and continue to be the best friends a girl could ask for.

The teacher/coach who impacted her the most is Coach Tutt, because (although yes, she's crazy) she loves hard and shows heart in anything she does. Tutt always reminds Starr to be the light in this dark world, and she motivates her more than she even knows. The thing she will miss most about Carlisle High School is playing card games with her friends whenever the electricity goes out.

If there’s one way she would like to be remembered at CHS, it would be for always trying to be a leader in anything and everything she did.

The advice she would give to underclassmen is not to stress as much in High School, continue trusting God’s plan, and He will allow everything to happen when the time is right. “A person’s steps are directed by the Lord. How then can anyone understand their own way?” -Proverbs 20:24

“Thank you to all my siblings for their continuous support. Also to my lovely mami, tú eres mi mundo entero y más, gracias por todos los sacrificios que has hecho por nosotros. Eres la mamá más noble y hermosa. Espero que nunca pienses que has fallado de ser la mejor mamá porque yo te podría escribir un libro y más.”
