Why book fairs?
*They give students the power to choose their own recreational, "fun" books that belong to them forever which promotes a passion for reading outside the classroom and raises reading scores.
*They give all students/families the opportunity to buy good books at a decent value. We live in a "book desert", we don't exactly have many bookstores near Carlisle and most of our students do not have a great deal of books at home. Many of the books in the book fair are award-winning, exclusive paperback, affordable options, and so much more than many stores carry.
*They teach life skills. Learning to shop within budget, whether cash or digital eWallet, teaches kids how to calculate costs, handle sales tax, and interact with cashiers.
*The proceeds go to buying books for the free Summer Bookmobile Program, the Angel Tree, and for use in the library systems and classrooms.
Scholastic does "Share the Fair" donation option. We encourage all to donate loose change to this cause.
What is the minimal amount of money I can send? Scholastic sends us a few boxes of sale books that are $2-5, before tax. The Scholastic eWallet is an awesome thing!

Be Ready! The Books Are Coming!
Hands-On Learning with Pumpkins!
Mrs. Wood’s 3rd Grade Science classroom was filled with pumpkin investigations and hands-on learning!
We partnered with Mrs. Gwartney from Region 7 ESC to bring science to life through a variety of pumpkin activities! Students listened to a story about pumpkins, explored and compared pumpkins of different shapes and sizes, and made predictions before measuring their height, diameter, and weight. They even investigated how many seeds were hiding inside their pumpkins!
To wrap up our day, students enjoyed a special treat—Pumpkin Pie in a Bag! 🥧
It was a fun-filled learning experience that encouraged curiosity, predictions, and scientific thinking. A big thank you to Mrs. Gwartney and Region 7 ESC for helping make science so engaging for our students!

Parents & Students: Our annual College & Career Night is Monday, November 2nd, from 5:00–6:30 p.m. in the Junior High Gymnasium!
This FREE event is open to students in grades 8–12 and their families. Come meet with representatives from colleges, universities, trade schools, local businesses, and the military to learn about exciting educational and career opportunities after high school.

Bus drivers needed
Our senior students visited Chapel Hill High School for the Christus Rise Up job fair. There, they learned about multiple jobs offered within the Christus Healthcare system. They even got to test their newly acquired CPR skills.

Destini Jordan, a 2019 Carlisle High School graduate, is the co-founder and president of the ¨I Am Beautiful¨ Movement. Through this incredible organization, Destini is helping empower and encourage young girls to recognize their beauty, value, and potential.
The I Am Beautiful Movement is hosting a FREE workshop tomorrow for girls in grades 5–12, along with their moms or another female family member.

Important update on the boil water notice.
The Price water department has notified us that the boil water notice has now been lifted. This means we can immediately go back to normal with our water usage. Again, thank you for your cooperation during this time period.

Update on boil water notice for Wednesday, October 7th
Price water department has informed us that we will still be under the boil water notice for tomorrow.
The school district will still provide water to the students. We are also still allowing parents to send water bottles with their child.
As soon as we hear any different on the notice, we will issue another update. We thank you once again for your cooperation in this matter.
We have had a water main break near the school today. Since then, it has been repaired. Unfortunately,
the Price water department has informed us that we are currently under a boil water notice for the school and the surrounding community. We will do our best to provide water to the students to finish today and tomorrow. If you would like your child to have extra water tomorrow, please plan to send that with them. We are hoping it will be rescinded by the end of the day tomorrow. If for some reason, we are still unter this notice as of Wednesday, we will issue another notice sometime tomorrow. Thank you for your cooperation.
